A Plague Hits TSBS

Not that this is going to help any, but we had an incredible show lined up for this week.  The guys from Keglines were all set to join us for some Christmas Ale.  And then Dave and Sean had to come down with some hideous disease that's going around.  They insist they got it from a toilet seat, but we all know better.  So there's no show for this week.  But on the bright side, there are almost six years worth of previously-enjoyed podcasts to keep you lubed up until next week.  Check out this show, or this one, or have a listen to this little beauty.  See.  All is well.

Why (most of you) Can Vote for Jill Stein

There are people out there, like me, who are voting for the Green Party candidate for President in November.  Like many, I’ve used my standing in the social media public square to try to convince people why it is in their own best interest to vote for the candidate who shares their own values as opposed to the corporate bought and just plain old corporate candidates.  There is some real cognitive dissonance going on with self-defined liberals and progressives where this election is concerned.  But that’s not what I want to talk about with this post.

There are some folks who are countering my politicking for Jill Stein with the argument that a vote for Jill is the same as a vote for Mitt Romney.

There are two main faults with this logic.  First, if you accept that “logic” then you have given permission for the “two” party system we have.  You are allowing the game to be rigged.  It’s saying that my vote is Obama’s and I’m taking it away from him and giving it to Jill Stein.  No, my vote is my own and the candidate who does and says (though mostly does) what I am in line with earns my vote.  Romney certainly does not fit that bill and lets just be honest, Obama doesn’t either.  I could go on more with this, but again, that’s not why I am writing.  The voting populace as a whole has been doing this for decades and it has brought us to the shape we’re in.

I am writing because of the other fault with the a-vote-for-Stein-is-a-vote-for-Romney argument.  Because of the crappy system we have to elect our President – the Electoral Collage – there are really only 9 states that matter in this election.  Those are the “swing” states.  The others are relatively decided already.  That’s why the Romney campaign has given up in certain states while the Obama campaign isn’t directing a lot of resources into others.

You see, I live in New York.  Obama has New York sewn up.  There is no chance of Mitt Romney getting a single Electoral vote from this state.  So if I vote out of (unrealistic) fear and choose Obama, I actually have thrown away my vote.  Why?  Because President Obama is a war criminal who should share a cell with George W. Bush.  My vote for Barack Obama means I approve of drone warfare and extended illegal wars.  I have other things, many other things, that are the opposite of everything I stand for that the President has done, but that’s really all I need.  I think the murder of innocent children is enough for this discussion right now.

My vote for Jill Stein in New York does a number of good things.  To be selfish, it means I can walk out of my polling place not feeling like a piece of garbage.  So I’ll have that going for me, which is nice.  But it also helps foster an already thriving third party, in New York and around the country.  This well run campaign has already made people notice what the Greens stand for and higher than expected vote totals for the Green Party will increase that exponentially. Yes, the corporate media will ignore it, but the only way to make them report on the Greens is to continue to ascend.  In the meantime, we make our own media (a subject for another time).

But what else will this do?  It will be up to Greens at a local level to leverage the momentum of this national campaign to make strides in local elections next year.  Strategically, that is one of the main things this campaign is all about.  Greens understand that the way to turn the party into a national force is to create success at the local level and when the focus of the nation is on this election for over a year, it’s not wise to sit out and not use the Presidential election to bolster local campaigns down the road.

So, if you do not live in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Virginia or Wisconsin then you can vote for the candidate you really like, because your state is pretty much a done deal.  If you live in one of the swing states…whew…there’s no amount of pragmatism in the world that would make me vote for a baby killer.  But that’s between you and your conscience.

UPDATE: You may think I'm clueless, but Norm Chomsky agrees with me.

Sex Toy Review - Honi Vibe

This sex toy review from Melyssa is in the form of a limerick.

Pico Bong has a vibrator called Honi.
With six speeds, it really does floor me.
It tickled my clit
and I came rather quick.
It was good fun to use when he boned me.

This makes me consider making all of our reviews in the form of a Haiku.  Stay tuned.

Years ago, I was (I thought) in love with a woman who was a bit of a deadhead.  She bathed and had a job, but other than that, she was pretty onboard with the whole culture.  So in order to woo her - because that's what you do to deadhead chicks - woo them - I began dipping my toe into the pond of tape trading.  That tells you how long ago this was.  So, to use the tape trading lingo, this show is a B+ Audience boot of our friend, Deborah Magone's video premier of It's All About the Money.  There's some talking, there's some raffling, and there's some music.  Our number one Canadian listener, Rhonda C was in the house and joined us as well!  The show is a bit longer than our usual.  You get a bonus 30 minutes so pack a sandwich and enjoy the show!  And if you're checking this out on our website, www.stuartbedasso.com, you'll be able to see the video!

This Kool-Aid Tastes Familiar

It's late and if I'm not going to go to bed there are a million things I should be working on, but I just can't.  Everywhere I go on the internets I see liberals plotzing over the President saying gays should be allowed to marry.  Doesn't this kool-aid taste a bit familiar?

First of all, as Stuart mentioned on his Facebook earlier today, why is it that Barack Obama's values "evolve" while Mitt Romney flip-flops?  Kind of a double-standard don't you think?  You have to look at the "hope & change" smoke and mirrors bullshit and all the rhetoric while doing a lot of bad, nasty stuff.  This is pure calculation.  Really?  Joe Biden pushed him to come out and say this?  This was staged, pure and simple.

OK...Obama said gays should be allowed to marry.  He's the freaking POTUS, what's he going to do about it?    Nothing, that's what.  He found his out..."but it's still up to the states to decide."  Fuck you, dude.  And all the liberals (notice I said liberals, not progressives) are swallowing this stuff all over again.  Why?

Because they've been searching for anything they can to hold on to the "hope" that he'll come around and do something liberal.  Not talk.  DO.  Hey POTUS, how about that Executive Order repealing Don't Ask Don't Tell?  Thought not.

A lot of my Facebook friends are delirious that this has gone down.  Many of them are also my friends in real life, too.  And I know my tone with this is going to annoy them, but this is the coldest, calculatedest, political move this guy has ever done..  Look at the laundry list of issues he's "pulled the football" from.  [Note: this was written before the "revelation" was announced and I wouldn't use the word "progressive" in the context this author did, but the list is spot on.]

Yes, Barack Obama pulling this stunt does have one good part to it, even though his reason for doing it is wrong.  The President of the United States saying that gays should be allowed to marry is one tiny brick in the wall in the struggle for equality.  But really, it's not as big of a deal as many are making it.  He's a Democrat!  He's supposed to accept same sex marriage.  Think about it...this being such a big deal to so many...doesn't that tell you that maybe the bar is a bit low?

And why now?  Huh?  This wasn't really on the mainstream media's radar right now.  And as many wealthier gays had been holding out in contributing - let's see how many of them start ponying up this week.  Calculated.  Shoot, I'm wondering if another war is right around the corner.

OK...and one last point.  Even if this is legit; real "evolution".  The Green Party and all 3 of the people vying for their nomination have always been down with same-sex marriage.  And every single other issue people who are liberal or progressive claim to stand for. Just sayin.

I'm sure I'll post another time on the "lesser of two evils" anti-logic as we get closer to the election.

Alrighty...feel free to let me have it in the comments.

Sex Toy Review - Babeland Remote Vibe Panty

I have often wondered how I would like vibrating panties, and when presented with the opportunity to review a pair, I jumped at the chance.

Dave and I decided to try them out live on the Stuart Bedasso Show one evening.  I was going to have them on, but Dave was going to be in charge of the remote.

So the show watered… at some point, I had forgotten that I had them on and then all of a sudden – BOOM – or maybe it was ZAP.  Dave turned them on.  Needless to say, I jumped.  Dave would let them run for a minute or so and then turn them off…just as I was beginning to focus only on my clitoral stimulation.

Then, near the end of the show, he left them on and yes, a Stuart Bedasso first, I had an orgasm on the show

So now you are asking yourself, how did they get away with that?

Melyssa did not hear the vibration happening right next to her.  She swore she could not hear a thing.

Overall, I enjoyed the Babeland Remote Vibe Panties.  It produced a very nice orgasm.  The panties fit pretty well and the egg relatively stayed in place (I had to make one adjustment during the show).  I think the best part of it is the anticipation – letting someone else have the remote, you never know what’s going to happen as there are 4 different vibration settings (pulses and straight out vibrator mode).  If you were to control the vibration yourself, it wouldn’t be as fun.  They’re pretty cool.

Just a quick warning, the egg does use up the batteries pretty quickly, but vibrating panties are not for everyday use anyway...I think.    – Eve

From the Remote Master:

I had fun doing that show.  If you go back and listen, you may hear the click of the remote in my microphone but it wasn’t totally loud.  You don’t have 100% control as to get to one of the different vibration settings you have to click through the others and there’s no dial so you’re not really sure what you’re setting it to.  I just went by Eve’s facial expressions and body language as to when to turn it on and off and what settings.

At first I wished that the remote had a longer range, but then I realized that if it did I would probably be opening and closing people’s garage doors all over the neighborhood.  Hell, I may even start messing with someone’s pacemaker.  If you’re in the same room, you should be in good shape.

So, should you use this in public?  Well, I tried to convince our review to wear them to the movies, but she made an excellent point.  Regular listeners of the podcast know that Eve tends to…uh…make a pretty fantabulous mess when she comes.  So if we were to take the Babeland Remote Vibe Panties to the Cineplex, no one probably would have heard it but there definitely would have been a clean-up in Aisle 5 if you know what I’m saying.  So, if the person who is going to be wearing these bad boys is a squirter, pick your scenarios carefully.

To sum up: I don’t usually use vibrating panties.  But when I do, I use the Babeland Remote Vibe Panties.  Stay horny, my friends.  -Dave

Stuart read the following tweet from a local guy who claims to be funny:
#FYI if you are a cashier that has a withered hand please do not use it to give me my change #handicapable

The asshat responsible for this is Vinnie Paulino.  He thinks he is funny, but really he's just afraid of people with disabilities.  Go read some of his other tweets @vinniepaulino.  So Stuart decided to have Dave use the Fifth Anniversary of TSBS to teach Vinnie Paulino just exactly what funny is.  This show is a retrospective of some of the best comedy bits of the show over the last five years.  Vinnie Paulino, you're not funny.  The Stuart Bedasso Show is funny.
